| CM Mighty Wings Sire: Billara Beersheba Dam: Bao Salle DOB: 3rd December 2008 - 9:45pm Due Date: 3rd December 2008!! Wings gets her name firstly because of her very typical Cleveland Bay ears, in a stiff breeze she would take off! We decided to keep with the aviation theme insinuated by the name "Wings" and took the Mighty Wings name from the song of that title in the movie Top Gun. |
| Salle did well - her first foal and she decided to deliver the goods right on her due date! Wings is a gorgeous HUGE Bay filly with not a scrap of white on her at all. She actually got stuck her shoulders are that huge - so Craig had to use quite a bit of effort to get them through! |
| Salle was completely exhausted and lay there for a while, and then sat up and just looked at her baby and talked to her for quite some time. This was great as Wings was still connected via the umbilical cord and stayed connected for longer than the others this season have so far. When she disconnected, Craig hopped in and iodined the stump right away - something we like to do in an attempt at keeping any bugs at bay. We named her "Wings" as a paddock name as she is endowed with those 'Cleveland Bay Ears!' |
| Within a couple of hours she was up, drinking and wandering around exploring her new world, and getting pats and cuddles from us as well while mum ate a lovely big mix. |
| Daylight on the 4th brought the rain.... Wings went from being wet and warm inside mum to wet and cool outside!! Still trying to get control of those long, long legs, Wings searched every square inch of the foaling yard and wanted to say hello to her half sisters through the fence, but mum was not quite ready to let her. |
