The September WTY
competition was held the
day before the Wudinna
Show, and also had a
competition under lights
with a dinner for all those
who came the night
before the show to see
just what goes on!
Here are some photos of
Sonia Allen (on the old Buckskin
mare, Dunny, by Allen Park Bald
Eagle), her brother in law Trent
Allen on his bay QH gelding Mr T,
and Craig Coburn on Trents
black and white mare Allen Park
Onida, by Allen Park Cherokee,
all competed throughout the day.
Sonia and Craig were on the
same team in the Open with
Petrea from Pt Lincoln on her
lovely big Clydie x mare.
Everyone had a lot of fun!
In the Open competition, Trent was in the
"O'Brien Livestock" team with Scrubber
O'Brien and Tash O'Brien.
They are a great team and work well
together and are always in the money at the
end of the day!
Craig opted not to bring his own horse CM
Burnt In Gold (Buck) as Trent wanted Onida
to compete if possible, and Craig was more
than happy to ride her as he thoroughly
enjoyed riding her at the August competition.
Buck just hasnt had the work he really
needs to bring him out and expect him to
chase
cattle all day and
be sensible about
it.  This was
Petreas first time
having a go at
Team Penning,
and she had a
great time from the
sounds of it.
Her horse was a
little unsure at first,
but seemed to get
the hang of it and
realised the cattle
werent going to eat
her by the end of
the day.
Trent, Tash and Scrubber have all
got the same shirts on - they have
decided on double blue as their
team colour.
There is another team, the
Foothill Paint & Quarter
Horse team who have
chosen red shirts for their
team!
After the competition was
done for the day (daylight
hours that is), there was a
Junior Barrel Race.
Amy Allen (Sonia and Jason
Allens daughter) rode her
pony "Pinto", and was led by
Penny Kittle.
"Uncle Trent" led Nathan - Trent and
Jasons sister Melanie's son on Pinto as
well.  He had a great time too!
Under lights it is a bit difficult to
get any decent shots, but here
are a few for you.  Spurvolt Tu
Chicahn was Trents mount for the
Setting up for the Senior Barrel Race
under lights, Grant (Trent, Jason &
Melanies dad) had help from Amy and
Nathan, and Trents stallion Tuie!
Trent rode both Tuie and Mr T in the
Barrels, and again did really well.
Craig rode Onida and didnt do so well
as he had problems with one turn and
the 'go' button!
Sonia and Jasons youngest daughter
Megan is pictured above getting into
some Garlic Bread.
Pam Allen (Grants wife, Trent, Jason
and Melanies mum) is pictured at
right with Melanie and her hubbys
daughter, Nathans sister, Emily.
The horses really are a complete
family affair with the Allens!
Everyone is involved in one way or
another and really enjoys them!
