10th October 2008 Ashlee and Sarah came up to play with their ponies - Honey and Wirrindi again... (School Holidays)... Wirrindi was having a bit of a rest...
Wirrindi was quite happy to let Sarah cuddle up to him, and then for Ash to sit on him while he was laying down.... He is a treasure of a pony really! He can be a little ratbag, and Sarah had some confidence issues with him there for a while, but has got that all under control now and is being much firmer with him. She is enjoying him a lot more now than she had been about a month ago. The ponies have been up here at our place for the last week of the school holidays so that the girls could come up and ride them every day, as well as Ash riding Oscar - the little chestnut pony here to be worked and sold...Though he MAY be staying...
Sarahs toe was under Wirris front hoof as he got up! Buck is very relaxed above, and checking that nothing fell off while he slept at left!
11th October - Craig sat on Buck for a while - used him as scaffolding to make sure the horse toy was secured properly!
Ash has been riding Oscar and doing really well on him. He is a gem of a pony and Ash loves riding him!
Sarah is getting on really well with Wirrindi, and has changed to a larger saddle recently. We are working on her leg position!! Right now she is happy with just having fun for a while.
Sarah was having trouble getting the little ratbag to canter in the round yard without rushing into it. So Ash hopped on and got him going.
She didnt bother lengthening her stirrups when she hopped on, so she was kind of like a jockey for a while there! Ash has discovered with Oscar, when you get off and walk away, he stands there til you come back.
The girls have devised a 'game' - they have a large cone, and a piece of poly-pipe. They have to pick up the pipe, do a lap, then
put it back in the cone again! It teaches them to put the pony in the correct spot, and to stand still when asked, as well as the girls learning to pick up and put down things from their ponies backs.
