Some of the Herd!
On Saturday 23rd February
2008 we moved Commanding
View and CM Commanding
Miss over to the paddock with
Dolan, Ceilidh, Cutie, Burleigh
and Killari... Here are some
pics from the day!
Above is Ceilidh, and at right is Cutie.
Both girls are looking rather round at the
moment.  Due in November 2008.
Dolan as you can see above
and left decided he would
have a big hoon around, hes
pretty quick when he wants to
move!
He is a gorgeous boy, and it
will only be another week or
so before he gets weaned!
Below is CM Commanding
Miss (Jenni) and her lovely
mum Mandy...
Jenni decided it was all a bit
big and scarey and stuck
close to mum for the first 24
hours... shes getting a little
gamer now.
Mandy is a beautiful girl... Shes looking
pretty good for her almost 19 yrs old.
She's a great mum!
On Sunday the 24th February, we had a new mare
delivered and did some horse shuffling.  Burleigh, Killari
and Cutie moved down a couple of paddocks to keep the
new girl, Tiki, company.
Above and left you can see Cutie having a bit of a hoon
around in the 'new' paddock.
Below is our new girl, Montica - Tiki is her paddock
name.  She stands about 16.1hh and is a lovely bay TB
mare.  No white on her.
If you are a little squeamish, please dont look at the
photos below.
Just after Tiki arrived early on the morning of the 24th,
we discovered that Gryphon had injured himself through
the night.
We cannot find WHERE he did it, and can only assume
that he was having a hoon with the older colt who was in
the same paddock and has run into a fence - however
there is no evidence on the fences or trees at all as to
where hes done it!
There was NO blood - the wound below is exactly as we
found it.  It was stitched up and he was started on
antibiotics right away.
He was a VERY good boy while it was being stitched, and the morning of the 25th we had to
restitch part of it as he had opened it up again overnight.  It looks like hes actually chewed
half the stitches out.  So now ALL the stitches that are in it are with steralised fishing line
(fairly heavy duty) as the normal sutures were just too fine and kept breaking.  Half of his
original stitches were fishing line, half normal suture material.  Hopefully now with it all being
fishing line, it will hold together.

Update...
Gryphs wound is looking
good - despite the
stitches pulling through...
We have put buttons in it
as you can see here at
left, only he now has a
third set of buttons in the
middle as well.... Sorry
they dont all match! But
at least we have pairs!
We finally found WHERE he had done the injury... in the middle of a fence panel
- between two posts - on plain wire.  We only found out that was where he did it
as there was a tiny bit of hair and the fence was stretched there.  It wasnt even
the top wire!  We are guessing he was hooning and forgot to pull up earlier than
he should have and slid into the fence!
