Weaning Has Commenced!
23rd April 2008 was the day we separated Gryphon and Jenni from their mums.
When they were fed in the morning, the foals were left in the big yard and the
mares were led into the smaller of the foaling yards.   The kids and mums can
still see each other, sniff and have a scratch... on the 24th the mares will leave
for their new paddocks with ohter mares.  The foals are not really bothered, and
these shots of them having a run around were simply them 'hooning' because
there was a bit of a cooler change in the weather, and the clouds gathered
overhead!  We can only HOPE that it brings rain!
They had a lovely time as you
can see, and as is also very
obvious - Gryphons wound
has pretty much disappeared
now!  If you look really closely
you can see a little line of
ruffled hair where the gash
was!
Both foals are growing really
well and we couldnt be happier
with them.  Gryphs little hernia
has gotten a touch smaller too
and may close on its own..
Jenni has a lovely sweet face -
it matches her nature!
