CM Gryphon's Flight

Sire: Allen Park Bald Eagle    Dam: Baxter's Faberge
At 1:25am on Thursday 8th November 2007, Folly started to have her much
awaited foal.  She was finished at 1:38am.
To say we were thrilled to see so much colour is an understatement!
On inspection while dabbing the umbilical stump with iodine  it was discovered
that he was a colt and beautifully marked.
We hope you enjoy these photographs of his birth, we are only pleased that our
foal watching pays off and we are able to witness and photograph the process.
Folly is a briliant 'mother' and really loves her foals.  She is
constantly 'talking' to them as they are born and while they
are still working out what the heck just happened!
Watching newborn foals trying to find
their feet and work out how to control
those big long legs is just beautiful,
and somewhat entertaining.
Once they work it out though they are
set!
Gryph discovered eventually that he
COULD stand up on those long legs,
and once he got up,
As you will see in one of the photos
below, he did have a moment where
his legs didnt quite get coordinated
and move together, and he fell over!
Folly just carefully stepped over him
and turned around and looked at him.
He looked horribly embarrassed about
having faceplanted!
Once he figured out he could walk
around, it didnt take him long to figure
out the next gears up - trot and
canter... He spent nearly an hour
doing laps around the yard, which was
funny as Folly just wanted to eat her
pellets and grain!
He hadnt looked for a drink, until Craig
checked his suck reflex and then he
decided he HAD to have a drink NOW
and with a little assistance found the
milk bar and latched on!
