| Dolans last hoof trim before he leaves! 26th March 2008 Dolan had his last hoof trim before setting off for his new home. You can see he is quite used to it all now, and stands beautifully to have his pedicure, including popping his hoof up on the stand to be rasped. |
| Tobi and Denny of course had to be in on it all as well and make pests of themselves. Nothing unusual. Tobi and Denny decided to have a bit of a wrestle over the fence - ok, so it was mostly Denny having a wrestle, Tobi just puts up with him... Dolan didn't care and stood nicely the whole time. |
| Denny just cant help himself and has to challenge Tobi at any given opportunity, however Tobi doesn't care one way or the other and just plays, or if he really gets annoyed, gives him a nip. |
| Dolan as you can see really wasnt worried... He is great to knife out his hooves, nip them off and rasp him up. He isnt worried about having his leg between Craigs for his trim or rasp at all. As we teach the babies all how to tie up, we have taught them to be trimmed while tied and just the farrier with them. |
| They are perfectly happy having someone stand there and hold them to be trimmed too, however these days a lot of owners are doing their own trims, and of course need to be able to handle doing it on their own. Not everyone has the luxury of a second person to hold the horse for them! |
| Tobi and Dolan are very good buddies as is evident in these photos... Tobi just has to 'help' too, and decided in the above photo to have a bit of a chew on Dolans ear while he was being trimmed. Dolan was more interested in stealing Craigs hoof knife out of his back pocket as you can see at left, or eating the hay as you can see in one of the photos above! Dolan really is a treasure and we will miss him being around! |
