CM Dolan Kearney
27th/28th (early hours)
March 2008

Dolan had his last float
loading lesson with us on
the evening of the 27th
March.
He walked up the tailgate
with a little push from behind
from me, with Craig leading
him.  Once he got to the top
of the tailgate he just walked
in and stood there calmly
while Craig held him and
gave him a good scratch
and a pat.  When asked, he
just backed off nicely and
stood at the bottom of the
ramp til he was asked to
move and go back to his
yard.
Dolan and Denny had a good old grooming
session, which is quite funny to watch as
Denny cant really reach that well... but he
tries!!  The boys get along really well.
Notable Horse Transport arrived,
and we were waiting out the front
with Dolan at about 1:15am.  He
had his float boots on that his new
mum Vicki had bought him - (I think
he was embarrassed as they had
PINK binding!) - they kept slipping
down, so I kept tightening them
again, however that really didnt
work that well.
We removed the front boots as the
hinds seemed to be staying on, but
when he was about to go on the
truck, he flicked a hind leg and one
boot flew off, so we removed the
other for his own safety!
He travelled really well down to
Globe Derby where Vicki was
waiting to collect him about lunch
time on the 28th March.
Vicki is thrilled with him, and the other people who have come into contact with
him think hes just lovely and really quiet and easy to handle.
Its nice to see that all our time and effort put into him has paid off.
We warned Vicki he may be a little skittish for a couple of days til he settles in,
however it seems he has just taken it all in his stride.
Vicki is considering changing his name to CM Dolan "Houdini" Kearney though
as on his first night he managed to escape from his paddock and climb in with
another mare that he had gotten a little attatched to earlier that day.... However
on the 29th, he met the electric fence and is much more respectful apparently!
