CM Sorta Sassy - 2008 Season Filly
Sire: Billara Beersheba
Dam: Kaysand Kinda Cute (Welsh x Arabian)

Born: 14th November 2008
approx 5:50am
Bay Filly, white star

Sassy had been in Victoria a while and headed home in January
2011 after the Royal Melbourne Horse Show where she had her
FIRST outing, and came home with two placings from two classes in
VERY good company!
Sassy left us on the 16th of July 2009 to head over to Arlene Sheen
in Victoria to do some showing in hand until she is older - which
didnt eventuate due to Arlenes hectic schedule!  You can see her
here a couple of days after arrival hassling Arlenes lovely big CBSH
mare, Wendee.
Arlene was waiting for us to breed her a 'real sized horse' so in the
meantime she was going to play with this little girl and get her out
there!  Unfortunately life got in the way, and Sassy has spent the
last year and a bit being a pest in the paddock to the other horses!
She is only going to be Pony/Galloway sized, it had been decided
that she would come home to CM Sporthorses after the Royal
Melbourne Horse Show in January 2011 and be Shell's harness
pony in the future.
The pics below were taken in October 2009.  She is
still obsessed by cats!
In May 2010, Shell popped in to Arlene and Phil's
place on the way to NSW (Yes, ok, so Victoria was a
bit of a detour - but CM Cloud Nine was dropped off
along the way at Linton in Victoria.)
Sassy is still only pony sized and is looking great!
Being May, she was quite wooly already and its
looks and her dads beautiful temperament!looks
and her dads beautiful temperament!
Poor Sassy didnt know what hit her in January 2011 when the
Lyndsworth Lodge & CM Sporthorses Show team arrived in Lara the
afternoon before the WB and CB classes at the Royal Melbourne Horse
Show!  This was Sassys FIRST outing - no pressure or anything! lol
Once Indy was settled, Sassy was 'attacked' with the razor - Arlene had
already done a great job of pulling her mane and her coat looked just
amazing.  We trimmed her tail, whiskers and down the backs of her legs,
and she was ready for the next day when we gave her a flick with the
brush, plaited her mane up, touched up a few areas with the makeup
and then gave her a spray with the Pepi Spray for the extra shine!
Debbie Fraser-Howe, who owns CM Anna Karenina, had come
to the show with a friend who was showing in the WB classes,
and it was fantastic to finally meet her!
She was soon 'volunteered' to lead Sassy in the CB classes -
she was entered in the WB's as well - however with Indy being
the main focus for the day - she was scratched from those
classes - which was probably a good thing as she may have got
lost in amongst all the 'big' horses!
Being a pony sized CBSH, she certainly caught the attention of
all watching!    She was just brilliant for Debbie and did as she
was asked right on cue!
Sassy placed third in the Best Presented Cleveland Bay or
Cleveland Bay Sporthorse, and fourth in the Led CBSH Mare or
Filly any age.   She was up against the big mares and geldings
in those classes and it was lovely to have her come away with
placings mid field in both of her classes.
Sassy has been introduced to the saddle (something that had
been done with her in Victoria briefly), was girthed up,
introduced to the bit, and lunged a little to help her develop a bit
of a topline.   She was also backed, however did not get a lot
of work being that she is so young.  She has been sat on, gotten used to someone above her.The first ride she was walked
and trotted, the second ride she had about a minute of walk, trot and canter each way.
Its amazing how things
develop....
Originally, she was coming
home from Victoria to become
my next harness pony and a
lesson pony.
Having assessed her fully
though - while YES she would
be perfect for that task,
ideally, I want a lesson pony I
can hop on and give a tune up
if necessary.    Unfortunately, for those of you who have seen pics of me on our site, will realise that this is probably not the
wisest move with regards to Sassy!!   She is quite fine, and we do not feel she would be up to my weight.  Yes, it would just be
for a 5 - 10 minute ride by me once in a blue moon - I am sensible about what I will get on, and Sass is just that bit too fine for
me to get up there and do anything with!
Added to this - she is just exquisite, and we can see her going a LONG way in the show ring or performance arena.
I have to be realistic and I am not up to getting her out in hand and in harness health wise.    So if the right person comes
along for her who CAN get her out in the Pony Dressage arena, Show Ring, or Performance Pony arena, we would be thrilled
to be able to help them acheive their dreams and take this gorgeous girl to the top!
Sassy is a complete darling, and likes to take the opportunity to show off whenever she gets a chance!
After several offers, much thought and going with my gut feeling,
Sassy went to live with
Katye Lemay-Robbins in the Adelaide
Hills.   Sassy was delivered down to Katye on the 15th of July
2011, and she is in love with her even more in the flesh than she
was from her photographs!
Katye is a talented rider and has three lovely horses who are
either competing or coming up through the ranks and training in
Dressage, and she had hopes of taking the Pony Dressage scene
by storm with CM Sorta Sassy!
Katye is sponsored by Rivanna Riding School and Erin from Rivanna is excited about coming out to fit Sassy with a new
Gentec Tree saddle!   She is a fluffball now - but just wait - in a couple of weeks she will hit the show ring!
The Dilutes Australia
2011 Youngstock Show
was Sassys second
outing, and her first with
Katye!

They were brilliant on
the day and it is
obvious that Sassy and
Katye have a firm bond!

Katye was thrilled with
Sassy, as were we, and
she did extremely well in all her classes - and came away with a
Reserve Champion Female Cleveland Bay! (Champion was her half
sister CM Independant Miss!)

Katye and Sassy had hoped to have a long career ahead of them
and had landed herself in the perfect home for her with Katye!
Update: 22nd September 2011

Due to NO fault of her own - other than being a bit
lighter framed than Katye was after (seems to be the
story of Sassys life so far! lol...
She is a darling girl and cannot help that shes not as
solidly put together as we would all like her to be!).
Katye, like me, will be saddened to see her move on,
however she has so much to give a rider that we want
to see her reach her full potential.

Update: February 2012

Sassy went to stay at Challington Stud, Two Wells, with
Robyn Champion & Matt Billington for a few months
while I got myself organised and moved down to Aldinga.    Huge thanks to Robyn and Matt for looking after the girly for me
while we figured out if she was staying a part of the Reigate team or not - and after a few ideas have been thrown around, at
this time I am offering her for sale to the right home.   She is an exceptional filly with a very bright future ahead of her.   If you
are interested in Sassy, please dont hesitate to contact me!
It has been an agonising decision to say 'yes, I will part with her' -however I really would like to see her out in the show ring
and strutting her stuff with a talented rider/handler!
