CM Rain Dancer
Sire: CM Oberon Toblerone (by Emperor Oberon -
Purebred Cleveland Bay, Imp UK, Dec. out of a
Wildfeuer (Imp. Holsteiner) mare)
Dam: Commanding View (TB)
DOB: 26th November 2010
Cleveland Bay/Holsteiner/TB Filly

Dancer got her name because we had not had any rain for
quite some time, were desperate for it, and three hours
before it finally did rain - she got her act together and did a
huge bounce around the foaling yard for the first time.

When she was born, she was quite weak and needed help
getting up as her tendons were so slack for a couple of
days.    She was so wobbly on her feet due to the tendons
that we had to milk Mandy and bottle feed the girl til she
could stand and not wobble everywhere.
She was extremely chatty and as soon as she
heard us coming out the back door, she was
whinneying and nickering away, telling us she
wanted her next feed please!  Mandy was such a
good mare, that she just put up with everything, as
well as her baby girl leaning against her for stability
when she was up on her feet!
Above: YAY!  Shes up and on the boobie finally!!!   Once she got her
'land legs' there was no stopping her.   She wouldnt stay up for long,
and would get tired easily, but she was feisty!
Her first day out in the paddock
and she was sticking to mum
like glue!   It was a big scarey
world outside of the foaling yard
apparently!
Dancer was growing
beautifully, was very
inquisitive and while
Mandy wouldnt let her go
play with Bounty just yet -
she desperately wanted to!
She had a few bucks and
rather uncoordinated
bounces in the air on a
regular basis!
Once she got the hang of those legs, she would do laps
around mum as she was eating - grab a drink on the way past,
and another lap.... this would continue for most of the day - with
lots of sleeps inbetween :)
Sadly, on the 8th of December, we had to put Mandy to sleep.
She had dried up milk wise, and had gotten very 'old' very quickly
despite the feed she was on, her teeth having been done and her
regular worming reigime.    It had been decided that Dancer would
be her last foal, and that she would be a nanny to the foals born in
the future til her time was up - however the dear girl obviously had
other ideas.    We tried to put Dancer on another mare however
the mare wouldnt stand unless being held, and then eventually just said 'nope, not doing it'.... She wouldnt take a
bottle or a bucket either, which was annoying, and wasnt keen on wet milk powder on her breeda pellets and
grain.   Being a fussy little miss, other than letting her have 24/7 access to her 'mix' and hay, there wasnt a lot
more we could do at that point!
She is going really well - just a bit 'behind' where we would like her to be at this point, however she is bright,
happy, and bounces around with loads of energy - so that is all we can ask for really isnt it?
A young lady who lives with us, Mickayla, has taken a real shine to her and is 'looking after' her - making sure she
gets her feed filled up when its getting low, picking up her feet and having her get used to handling, leading and
everything else that goes along with being a baby!
At this point, the plan is to keep her for a couple of years and see what we think - we have tossed up the idea of
keeping her as a future broodie - as we have done with her half sister, - CM Commanding Miss (Jenni)....
Dancer and Maxy are best buddies at the moment - and are
both out with Frank, Winky-Wonky, Rusty and Wizard.
They have 10 acres to graze and are doing quite a good
job of it so far!

Dancer is resembling something like a carpet at the moment
on her back - lol - shes shedding out - but her winter coat
was so thick that its not falling off her when she rubs it - she
just tends to get it all matted up so requires some 'plucking'
every few days!!!   Its a good thing shes easy to catch and
make a fuss of in the paddock!
Dancer has gone to play with Ally Kirkman and Heather Morgans babies by Billara Beersheba, Sargenta Cadence (above
centre with the star), and Morgans Run Rememberance (above left).... I made a comment about them being "Larry, Curly &
Moe" and the reply was 'Yep, and in that order!'.... Dancer is loving being out in the big paddock with the other 'kids' at
Caltowie at Redbanks Park (Allys mum (Yvette) and dads place).   Huge thanks to them for having her there on an
extended play date to grow up a bit and mature.
