Palarang Charga's War Bow (Beau)
Gelding registered APPA G114.
(Australian Palouse Pony Association)
He was foaled on the 8/11/84.

We first met Beau when our lovely friend Fleur
Bedford purchased him as a pony for herself and
her son to ride.

He was sold to Fleur from an ad on MyAushorse,
by someone who told a few fibs about him.

He was supposedly an Ex-RDA horse, 15 years
old, and completely and utterly bombproof.

About the only thing that was correct in the
advertisement for him was his colour!   Even his
height was over estimated.

Fleur got him home (he was delivered here) and
came here to see him and play with him for a day
or so before taking him to her place across town.

Unfortunately, he put the wind up her, and pulled
the wool over her eyes - and was not as 'quiet' with
her as he should have been.

She perservered with him for some time, and one
day when we had Pony Club here at our place in
the Pony Club Paddock - he was completely full of
himself and he put her off completely.

Craig had ridden him back home the day before
and when he had gotten off of him (headcollar and
lead only) he had said 'If Fleur ever wants to part
with him - we are buying him!'...

So in September 2009, Beau came to live with us -
the two photos at right and the one below are the
day he arrived here - looking rather wooly!
Beau has fit in here like he has
been part of the furniture forever.

Scarily, he is so much like my old
boy Jojo - he fits Jojos gear
perfectly - same holes on
everything, has the same
gorgeous personality, you can do
anything with him and he is just
such a reliable old boy.

Ashlee and her friend Amy were
and mucked around with him and
the poor old boy just put up with
everything.

Ashlee even 'fell off' him - really
slowly and loudly (on purpose) to
see what he would do - as you
can see above left - he just stood
there and looked embarassed!

The girls and another local lad
were playing with him one night in
the dark - no headcollar or
anything on him in the paddock,
they were leapfrogging onto his
backside, all three on him at once,
and generally being teenagers
(loud ones) and he just stood and
took it all!

Amy rode him at the Wudinna
Show in 2009.   It was her first
ever show, and Beaus first show
with us, as we didnt know his
history at all so we entered him as
CM Lotsa Dots.
As I wasnt up to it, we just made sure he was
clean and tidy - but not plaited (he was also in a
winter coat which didnt help!), and the pair
cleaned up!  You can see his neck full of ribbons
below!  At left: Amy and her Entourage!
You can see the sky was very dark at
the show - and it rained pretty hard
too - Beau was a star - he just kept
going!   At one point it hailed that
hard that everyone bolted from the
rings, and Beau ended up with the
gutter down his rather broad back full
of hailstones!   Nothing bothered him
at all which was fantastic!  He is a
great little horse!
Above you can see some pics
of a couple of local boys who
came to play with Beau for a
couple of hours - he is very
forgiving and they had a ball
in the round yard with him.

The surrounding photos are
of him at Pony Club with a
variety of riders on him.

Above right is his previous
owner, Fleur, holding him with
her son Toby onboard!
Upon clipping him in 2010, we
discovered his brand - and I sent off an
enquiry to the Australian Palouse Pony
Association on the off chance he could
We now know where the "Beau" comes
from - and its certainly not a name we
will forget in a hurry!
We had a camp at Tcharkulda in June 2010,
and it was Beaus first time in harness for us -
he was a complete gentleman and was also
ridden by others at the camp as well.
In December 2010 we went to Perlubie
Beach with Beau and Roc (one of the
stallions), and had a blast.   We had
Amanda visiting from Adelaide and
Shannon from Western Australia, and
Ashlee came along too.  You can see
by the pics that Beau put up with a lot!
At Perlubie - you can see that Beau loved attention from the tourists too!
Beau was asked to deliver Santa
to the
2010 Minnipa Christmas
Party as his reindeer needed a
break!  He was brilliant and put
up with the tinsel and bells as well
as this big 'red and white' person
coming at him!  Please click on
the above link to see more phtoos
of him and Santa!
What better way to start 2011 than going for a drive?   Craig harnessed Beau
up for me (I can do one or the other - harness up or drive - otherwise I am
completely useless!!) and I drove him across town to the paddock he normally
lives in.

Beau is such a darling old man, we love him to bits, he is completely
trustworthy for us and is just brilliant to be able to throw a rider of any ability
on him for lessons or a trail ride.

He does know what he's doing if someone rides him and asks him correctly for
movements!   And he is brilliant and almost unflappable in harness!
