Dam: Oberon Shandy (CBSH) by Emperor Oberon (CB)

Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) is a gorgeous example of a
Cleveland Bay Sporthorse. She has the 'trademark' kind eye, the
lovely nature & delightful disposition that the Cleveland Bays all
seem to have.

She as wonderful movement and is such an easy to train mare
having already proved herself in the show ring, becoming the
Australasian Champion in the CBHSA 2003 High Point Awards in the
Halter Section, and Reserve Champion in the CBHSA 2004 High
Point Awards for Hacking from limited outings.  She shows a natural
flair for jumping and dressage, and we were hoping to take her
further in these fields at some point. She has been used as a 'stock
horse' and proved herself quite good on sheep and cattle, and as a
general trail riding horse.

She has now been retired to join the broodmare herd as we just
simply dont have a show rider for her here at the moment and we
did take her out in 2009 and did some in hand showing down
towards Adelaide.   She did very well there and proved she still has
it - even being in 'broodie' mode and having the big belly to go with
it!  She is just a lovely mare all round and is worth too much as a
brood mare to miss out on breeding her.
We bred her to Allen Park Bald Eagle and were blessed with a
wonderful Black and White Filly on the 19th of January 2005,
CM Alina Keely.  She was one stunning little girl who did not stay
'little' for long!  Keely (pictured left with her dear mum) was sold
before she was 24 hours old to Heather & Simon Studdy of Yatama
Stud in NSW. Heather was our NSW Show Rider for Ceilidh and
loved her so much that she just had to have her daughter.

UPDATE: Keely was shown at the 2007 AWHA Gala Day in NSW
and was sashed Reserve Champion Cleveland Bay or Cleveland
Bay Sporthorse.  This was her first show!  Heather had planned to
event her down the track when she was old enough, however Keely
was put down in August 2007 after a paddock accident.
Ceilidh does pretty much anything we want her to,
including being yanked out of the paddock after 5
years, thrown on a float, driven half way across the
state and shown in hand two weekends in a row and
showing she still has ‘it’.  (a couple of photos of her
below - taking Reserve Champion CB or CBSH to
Lyndsworth - owned by Kath Hurrell of Lyndsworth
Lodge (Lyndsworth Lodge have our lovely CM
Independant Miss and are showing her for us) -
Lyndsworth is by Gillshaw Caliph, and is just an
amazing horse!   We were thrilled to come 'second' to
him!  Steven Brewster, the judge pictured, liked Ceilidh
as well so it was lovely to hear his comments.

We found out just HOW special she is in December
2009.

Her first owner (after her breeder, Sue Cullen of
Killarnie Clevelands of course), Jo Marshall sent us an
email saying she thought we might have her ‘Belle’....

Indeed we do, and Jo said that hearing back from us,
how much we love her, what she has achieved showing
wise and with her beautiful foals was the best
Christmas Present she could have ever asked for, and
that she was in fact a ‘miracle’ horse.

Jo first saw her in a video that her friend showed her
after purchasing her brother – Kilarnie Casey – Ceilidh
was in the footage of a small herd of yearlings running
around... so she phoned Sue and asked if she was for
sale.  She went and bought her that week, and then
travelled with her in the float from Moruya back to
Sydney to make sure she was ok during the trip.

As a three year old, Ceilidh was struck by lightning,
and the vets recommended putting her down.  Jo could
not do it, and took her home, put her in a padded
stable and round the clock care was done by her and
her family.  She could not walk and would fall over if
you touched her and took her by surprise, half of her
face was paralysed and her left ear flopped down to
the side.  Jo’s dad would come and stay with Ceilidh
while Jo was at work for months, letting Ceilidh lean on
him while he guided her around the stable and then a
small yard.

Eventually she was able to do out into a paddock –
and had a LOT of physiotherapy and what sounds like
an absolute fortune spent on her to get her back to
health.   Her recovery took over 12 months.  The left
side of her face wouldn't work and she would start to
chew her food and then almost fall asleep in the middle
of a mouthfull and then sort of wake up with a start.
They had to check she didn't choke for a while and
basically it was pretty scary!  But they never gave up
on her and she was so patient with them as they tried
to make her better.

The Vets kept a very close eye on her the whole way
through, and scoped her before giving Jo the all clear
to be able to ride her again once she was recovered
and declared her to be a miracle horse.

So this girl really is a special special mare.... We had
always wondered about her slightly lop sided ears (one
sits higher than the other) – and now we know what it
was from!!

Ceilidh will never leave us, she is too wonderful to part
with and is a huge part of our stud – producing the
most amazing foals for us.
In 2006, she produced a beautiful colt by our TB stallion CM
Danzaponastaa. We named our little man CM Cullen Eachan -
meaning handsome brown horse - ok, so hes bay with a white star,
but that was pretty close in description!

He has been sold to a lovely Dressage home in QLD, Michelle Ott.
He headed up to Michelle shortly after weaning.

There are a couple of photos and a little letter from Michelle on
Cullens page.  We will pop a few photos up as Michelle sends them
to us!  He is pictured at right with Michelle onboard in 2010.
Ceilidh gave birth to a lovely black colt on
October 12th 2007 -
CM Dolan Kearney
(pictured left) - who is by
Allen Park Bald
Eagle a full brother to CM Alina Keely.

Dolan is an inquisitive fellow and is VERY
people orientated.....

He has gone to his new home with Vicki
Brzezniak in Adelaide, South Australia.  He
has grown beautifully and is a lovely
youngster.

Vicki took Dolan out to a couple of shows
not long after she got him home, and he did
quite well.   He has had some time off from
the ring while Vicki had another baby.  You
can see more about him by clicking on his
name above.
In 2008, Ceilidh presented us with a gorgeous filly - by Allen
Park Bald Eagle, who we named CM Brietta Carlin - she sold to
Freya d'Espeisses in Western Australia and will be a
showjumper/eventer down the track.

She was in foal to
Roc On and due in February 2010, however
for some reason unknown to us, she slipped the foal which was
very disappointing as we had a home for the foal to go to!  Roc
is a Perlino QH stallion who is working bred - a really lovely
build and a fantastic temperament to go with it.

Ceilidh ran with
Billara Beersheba for a 2011 Season foal!

On the 17th of October 2011, she presented us with a beautiful
bay filly with a big white star - very similar to Cullens, and a
white near side hind hoof (looks to be a small heel marking).

CM Ciarra Ashlinn has already been spoken for - she will be
going to live with Bianca Payne of Adelaide when she is weaned
and ready to go!   Bianca has been so excited waiting for her to
be born and is just a 'little bit' in love with her already.   She will
meet her in person in December 2011 when she and her mum
Jenny make the trip over to meet her, Ceilidh and Bill!
At this stage, the plan is to re-breed Ceilidh to Billara
Beersheba for a 2012 foal.

If you are seriously after a foal out of this combination -
please contact us and we can put you on the list of
interested parties.

Ceilidh is a top quality mare, who has top quality foals...
she is a wonderful mum and is a delight to deal with in
every way!   Her offspring inherit her wonderful
temperament as well as the traits from their sires as well!
