BREED O RAMA 2009 On the 13th of December, Breed O Rama, which had been postponed from earlier in the year was on at Mt Crawford Dressage Grounds. We took Billara Beersheba along and left CM Killarnie Ceilidh at home as she is due to foal in a couple of months!
Bill was beautifully behaved, and only had one little bounce when he was sprayed with fly spray (the flies were thicker than they are here at Minnipa and thats a hard thing to acheive!!) He was perfectly fine for his head and neck being sprayed (hes never had an aerosol can sprayed near him at all), however decided he wasnt keen on it behind the roller... He was half asleep for his classes and didnt show off that lovely big trot
that we KNOW he has - when he is being 'lazy' if Craig runs faster to get him to trot out - he pops into a lovely rocking horse canter as its easier to do that than expend energy doing a bigger trot! We have to work on this at home some more, and figure out how to 'spark him up' a little without having him become a ratbag... He has the most laid back temperament - which is very typical of all the Cleveland Bays being shown here in SA.
Bill Henderson was the judge for the CB Ring for the day, and you can see him here inspecting Bill in his Stallion class, which he won. That tail is slowly growing out and is incredibly thick - we will try to avoid having foals in with him if we are planning on showing!
Bill did very well in all the rings he was entered in at Breed O Rama.
It was a long trip down and home again, though this time we were in Adelaide for a few days, staying with friends at Challington Stud at Two Wells. We did head home directly after the show was finished though - so were exhausted by the time we got home and unpacked! We have a break now until April - while there are shows on that we could go to in the meantime - it just gets too expensive to be heading off on such big trips so often. It also means we are away from home and away from the horses here which of course all need looking after!
