On 17th January 2010 we put Frank
and his mum out in the paddock with
Mandy and her adopted 'son' Dreamy.
Dreamy has a creep bar set up in the
catch yard off the paddock, so we have
no doubt that Frank will find it as well
and dive into Dreamys 'goodies'....
Dreamy never did take to Mandy as far
as wanting to drink from her, but is her
'son' for all intents and purposes as far
as her mothering him goes.   He is a
little behind where he should be, but is
going as well as can be expected given the
circumstances.   Mandy is glued to him and is
protective of him which is great to see.
Lady is such a relaxed mum, she wasnt phased by
Mandy and Dreamy following her and Frank around.
Frank as a lovely big stride on him, and those legs go on for
miles - he is going to be quite a tall boy.
He has already been sold - and is going to a great home who
will get him out showjumping and eventing in the future!
Frog and Squirt wandered through the paddock, and none of
the horses are at all phased by them - they are used to the
dogs, goats, sheep and our cow, Chloe, wandering in and
around them all the time.   Its actually pretty good for
desensitising them to the big bad world.
Dreamy was thrilled to see someone his size in his paddock!
Dreamy is very cute - and very nosey.  He knows when we have been
over with his new bucket of goodies each day (High Protien
Concentrate mixed feed, pellets and milk powder) and races in to his
creep section and stuffs himself!   He is a sweet boy.
We have decided to hang on to Dreamy for a couple of years and sell
him as either a 'ready to start' horse, or a 'going under saddle' horse -
we keep getting requests for these types of horses but never have
any available as our foals sell while very young.  It will be nice to have
one grow up a little - being a hand raised orphan, he is going to be a
little behind, so this is a good opportunity to take some time with him.
The older kids are doing really well - Syd is pictured above with his
dear mum, Chloe's Star.  He is massive for his age, and we are glad
Karen wanted a tall one!!
Windy is at right - he is growing nicely and Anne will be pleased with
how he is turning out we think.
Indy is looking great - we hope to get her out and show her as a
youngster, and as you can see, her 'rhino nose' is healing up really
well after having the flap cut off of it.   She is a beautiful girl and is
turning out exactly as we had hoped.
