On the 4th of July 2009 we braved the weather and decided
that we HAD to start doing something with the 'kids' again.
They were moved to the stable and yard in front of the round
yard as it was the dryest spot.
Ashlee who comes up and helps us out with the horses (and
when shes not with our horses shes with her own - completely
horse mad this one!!) was there to give us a hand.
CM Sorta Sassy was
first to be caught and
had a hoof trim.
Considering it has been
a while since they were
in for handling, all the
foals were exceptionally
behaved and there was
NO silliness whatsover
from any of them.  Just
goes to show their prior
training has paid off.
As you can see, they
are complete mud
monsters at the moment!
Dusty (CM Silver Serenade) decided that while Sassy was having her feet done, she
would paw at the feed tub and spill it - Good one Dusty!!
Again, a mud monster.... but to be honest, we really dont care at this stage!! We are
just so pleased to actually have the rain and a great start to the season!  The farmers
are all stoked, and we have had more rain in June than we had in the entire year in
2008.  Im not complaining, but it could stop for a couple of weeks and dry out a bit!
Jenni was third one up.... She is growing really nicely and we are thrilled
with how she is coming up.  Wings decided to help her a little while she
was having a trim.  Nosey little miss that she is!
Jenni has a gorgeous temperament to go with her build, and she is very
much like both her sire and dam!
CM Mighty Wings got a bit of a break today - she didnt get
trimmed as she has slipped in the mud we are assuming and is a
little tender on her near hind leg - looks to be up in the hip/stifle at
the moment, and theres not a lot we can do for her but wait.
It certainly hasnt hampered her appetite though and she, like the
rest of the kids, are loving their daily mixes!
We are feeding Breed N Grow, Oats and chaff to pad it out a bit so
that they dont just guts it all down.
Heres hoping that the next lot of photos we have to share with you are
of the foals looking considerably cleaner!!!
They are really quite embarrasing being this grotty, however there is
not a lot we can do with the mud around the place - as ou can see in
the background of hte pics, its quite wet!
