Vet Day!!! - The 24th February was the day that Dave Anderson from the Pt Augusta Veterinary Practice
came to visit us and do all our scans, microchips, vet checks and a gelding!
Dave is a brilliant vet, and we use the Pt Augusta Vet Practice as our regular vets.....We are very thankful that
he comes over this far when a few of us have a fair bit of work lined up for him every now and then!
We started the day with a few scans....we were very surprised to learn that Chloe's Star did NOT lose her foal
when she was bitten by a snake back in October as we thought..... WHEW!  It must be a tough bugger!!  The
poor girl got systemic laminitis really bad as a result of the bite and then has had reccuring absesses - shes
done it a bit tough, and we have made her as comfy as possible - shes well on the mend now though!
Above is Chloe's Stars scan - a good sized foetus there, as is
Baxters Faberges foetus - at right.  Below is "Peppa" - owned
by our friend Linda, in the crush and having her scan - she isnt
cycling properly at the moment though which is disappointing.
After the scans came the gelding.... CM Brigadier Royston is looking
a bit wobbly at right, and Below Right is being watched by B2....
Below Left he is all scrubbed up ready for the incision....
At Right and Below -
the deed being
done!
After the gelding
was done with -
Jack had his
microchip inserted
while he was still out
to it.
When he woke up
and got up he was a
little wobbly for a
while but is now out
there bouncing
around!
Below Left: Chevy - the kitten.... the ratbag, the evil little bugger who can
attack you and still be purring his head off....        He decided that one of Jacks
testicles was a good play toy as you can see below....
Next up was CM Brietta Carlins vet check and microchip.
She was a little champion for the vet check, and really good for
the local anaesthetic at the Microchip site....
When it came time for the actual microchip though, anyone who
has seen the size of those chip needles will know why she
turned around and tried to nip Dave!  OUCH!
they scored very well with their percentages - Ceilidh will be entered in the Elite Studbook and Killari in the
Head Studbook.  So we are very pleased with that.
Forrest also had his inspections for his CBHSA Breeding Permit and his AWSHA Registration and he too
scored well and truely enough to get into the Elite Studbook as well.
Forrest, Bill and Tobi all had their basic checks done for their CBHS UK registrations, and will have the
paperwork completed as soon as we can get it done for their permits to breed with the CBHS UK as well.
They probably dont 'need' it, however we would like to have it done as it means their offspring will be able to
be CBHS UK registered should anyone from overseas wish to purchase a foal at any stage.
