Perlubie Beach on
South Australias West
Coast
We had a friend, Linda,
staying with us for a week,
and we promised we would
take her to the beach with
the horses!
The weather was wonderful
for us, and we loaded Roc
On (The Perlino QH
stallion) and CM Burnt In
Gold (Buck, or Buckethead)
on to the float and off we
went!  The three of us
squished into the front of
our Ute!
We took advantage of the
horses quiet natures to get
some 'nekkid' pics of them
on the beach!  One at a
time obviously, both loose
at once would have been
asking for trouble!
We will go and do another photo shoot on the beach
when Roc has had a bath!! He was filthy dirty, but we
still took some shots of him to show off!  He has the
best nature and really is a kids pony with testicles!
You wouldnt know he is a stallion most of the time!
Even when Craig was
flicking some water up
at him, he just stood
there and pulled
faces... You would
have thought common
sense would say to
move away..... but no...
Not Roc, he just stood
there and took it!
Perlubie is a fantastic
beach and we have
been there before with
the ponies and Buck...
We are going to spend
a LOT of time this
summer there!
Buck and Craig having a lovely trot through the
shallows...
Buck was REALLY well behaved ALL
day - with the exception of a couple of
minutes... It just wouldnt have been a
'normal' day without Buck having a bit
of a rear and being a drip for a little
while!
He can be a right pain in the butt
some days, but for the most part he is
a lovely laid back fellow.
Linda and Craig having a wander around
and splashing through the water..
.
We dont know if Roc has ever been to a beach
before - he was a little hesitant about walking on the
sand at first, and at putting his feet in the water, but
soon got over it and thoroughly enjoyed a splash
around!
SHOCK - HORROR - SHELL ON A HORSE!
Yes, it has been 2 yrs and 9 months since I
had been on a horse, but I did it!
I figured if I was going to pass out and fall off it
would be a soft landing!
I was in so much pain being onboard, and still am 3
days later, however it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO
worth it!  I even had a little trot on Roc - he is lovely
and smooth.  Craig and I walked around in the water
holding hands like we used to on the horses and of
course having a kiss or two every now and then!
Ok, yes I know, my butt is bigger than the horses.... so
no emails about that please!  Do you like my footwear
and the skirt?? I wasnt planning on riding....
Craig hopped on Roc and went for a canter
down the beach and back a few times - to let
Roc stretch his legs out.  He had a ball,
though Roc is somewhat difficult to get to
move quickly - he is so laid back about
everything!
Roc has a lovely big trot on him when he
strides out.
Craig had a few lovely big canters on him as
well, and got him to do a sliding stop -
however I didnt catch this on camera!
Craig at Left saying "Whats so hard about this horse??
NOTHING!" - he just does as he is asked every step of
the way!  No fuss at all!  Just the way a stallion should be
.
Awwwwwwwwwwww Head Hugs with "Dad".....
Roc is such an affectionate horse, he really is one
in a million.
Below you can see the shelters on the beach -
there are three or four of these at Perlubie, and
there is a row of horse stalls up the back which
were in use when they had the races on the
beach.
Craig had planned on taking Buck to the Beach
Races, however the last year they ran was just
before we moved over to Minnipa.
We plan on taking the horses and truck and
camping at the beach over summer a couple of
times if possible.
Mum and Dad (Craigs side) are hoping to get
over for a visit, so we will take them to Perlubie so
that Ken can ride on the beach with Craig!  Heck,
we might even get Lyn on a horse!
It is a lovely hard beach
that you can drive right
down onto.... as you can
see by the Ute and Float -
we did!
In the background are the
horse stalls - they need a
little work to be useable,
but not a lot!
Below is my little seagull
friend who was hanging
around.
In a moment of either Bravery or Stupidity - I have yet to work out
which.... I hopped on Buck and had a ride around.  I have ridden him
in the past with no misbehaving, and thankfully he was the same
again for me!  I think its Craigs electric butt that stirs him up!
I did opt for the helmet on Buck though - I actually completely forgot
about it when I hopped on Roc.... I havent ridden without a helmet for
years!  I just dont feel safe without one - except on Roc obviously as
I didnt realise til I put the helmet on to get on Buck!
Buck is a lovely comfortable ride and nice and responsive.
While Craig was riding Roc,
Linda took Buck for a bit of a
splash in the water on the
lead... Linda forgot to bring
some shorts or a change of
pants, so she had wet strides
for the rest of the day!
We had a fantastic day, and I plan on
getting on a horse again soon!!
Probably the next time we go to the
beach.  I was in too much pain to do
much other than a 10 minute ride
and walk and a little trot - but hey, I
GOT ON A HORSE!!!!
